FAQs

What makes a fragrance niche vs indie?

You may already be familiar with designer fragrances, which are those created by a fashion house or other well-known brand, like Prada Paradoxe or Carolina Herrera Good Girl.

Indie fragrances are created by independent, small perfumers and often prioritize unique and artistic scents over those with mass appeal.

Niche fragrances are created by individual perfumers or smaller perfume houses that can have multiple perfumers. These brands often prioritize high quality ingredients and a mix of both unique and mass appeal scents.

Perfumers are professionals trained in the art and science of combining unique natural and synthetic notes and accords to create the fragrances we know and love. They are often referred to as the "nose" behind a fragrance.

What's different about the fragrances sold on your site?

All of our fragrances are sourced from small niche and independent fragrance houses around the world, ensuring (1) high-quality and unique notes and ingredients from some of the most remote corners of the Earth and (2) high care and attention to detail throughout the perfume-making process. This results in some of the most breathtakingly beautiful and well-blended fragrances, each telling one-of a kind stories of their countries of origination. Vanilla from Tahiti, Madagascar and Peru. Spices from the Far East. Tropical fruits from the West Indies and Central America. Many of our brands are not widely available for purchase in the US (or are not for sale at all...except on this site!), so you will be wearing a fragrance as unique and one-of-a-kind as you are.

Why has the color of my fragrance changed from when I first received it? Why is the color of my fragrance different to the color of the sample in the photo on the website?

Due to the nature of natural ingredients and how they naturally deepen and mature over time, leading to the color of the fragrance darkening. This process is expedited by oxidation (exposure of the fragrance to air) and/or improper storage, in overly hot environments or those directly exposed to sunlight.

This is why it's important to ensure to keep your samples (1) tightly closed and (2) stored in a cool and dry place (e.g. bedroom vs. bathroom).

How do I choose between a 1ml, 5ml or 10ml sample?

On average, 1ml of perfume equals about 10 sprays. For fragrances, if you’re looking for an initial intro to a scent and to see if it’s something you’d like, get a 1ml. If you’re looking to wear it multiple times to determine if you want to buy a full bottle, get a 5ml or 10ml. All sizes come with a spray top. See below for photo examples of what a 1ml, 5ml and 10ml sample bottle looks like. Please note, 1ml samples come in 2ml bottles and will therefore be filled halfway.

For body oils, 10ml samples come in a squeeze tube with a screw on top for easy application and safe storage. 10 ml of body oils can equate to 1-3 full body wears, depending on how generously you apply.
